Little house next to Ben Stack

The clouds in Scotland can be so impressive and so fast changing. This little house was abonded, what a shame...such a beautiful view over the lake

Sunrise at lake Loch Naver

One of the best sunrise I was lucky to witness at Lake Naver, Scotland. When the sun came up, it looked like Loch Naver was in fire. The colour of the light was so yellow,  the fog started to look like smoke.

Sunset on the Isle of Skye

When the sea is pulling back, you get sometimes some very beautiful patterns. Here I was lucky:
what was left of the sea, was shaped like a river. The evening light was amazing.

Highlanders

They look pretty wild, but in fact they are just cows... A bit more hair though. And very beautiful...

Shipwrecks on the coast of the Isle of Mull

I have always loved to photograph shipwrecks or old cars. The fading colours, rust, rotten wood; they are all fascinating to look to. You also get interested in the story of those boats: to who they have belonged? What has happend?

Wow, a tree....

In Scotland only a tiny fraction of the original native forest cover remains. The history of this deforestation in the Highlands is long, complex and shrouded in mystery, but we can still gain glimpses of what has been lost.
I spotted this lonely tree on a tiny road on the Isle of Skye. Unfortunately the tree was dead...

Western Highlands

As you probably know, the weather in Scotland can change very fast. From little rain to much rain, from wind to storm, but sometimes you have that few seconds lasting moment of a beautiful sunshine
coming through.

Red rocks on the Isle of Skye

The Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye is an amazing place. It is a collection of waterfalls and rock pools. This pool was for me the most special; the red stripes on the rock were very bright which I had never seen before.

Smoo cave

Smoo Cave is a large combined sea cave and freshwater cave in Durness.

Eilan Donan castle

Eilean Donan castle is probably the most photographed castle in Scotland. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery in the west of the Highlands.

Callanish stone circle

The Callanish stone circle is one of the most complete circles in Europe. You can find the standing stones on the Isle of Lewis in the outer Hebrides. It's a magical place where ceremonies where hold already 3000 years ago.
The first pictures was taken early in the morning when the sun came up, the other was taken in the middle of the night.

Scotland in Black & White

It took a long time, but finally again some update to this blog. to travel through Scotland was a wish I have had for many years. Last autumn I made my dream come true!
